  • 1 whole fish (such as mackerel or sea bass)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

  1. Clean and gut the fish, making sure to remove any scales.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice wine vinegar, and vegetable oil.
  3. Place the fish in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Make sure the fish is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for a more intense flavor.
  4. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  5. Brush the grill grates with oil to prevent sticking.
  6. Place the fish on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the flesh is opaque and flaky.
  7. Transfer the cooked fish to a serving platter and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Korean BBQ fish!
